The five main causes of current depression were/are: 1) Repeal of the Glass Steagall Act by cruel lobbyist and big bank CEO Sanford Weill and Bill Clinton in 1999, 2) SEC's repeal of the Uptick Rule in July 2007, 3) No oversight of Credit Default Swaps, 4) No independent oversight board akin to Fed examiners/supervisors to audit the Federal Reserve, and 5) Naked shorting (America is nearly only nation that allows destructive Naked Short Selling under no Uptick Rule). So Congress, Obama, and SEC must remake the uptick rule into a more stringent model, and place a high minimum fine and mandatory jailtime on those traders who do not enforce enactment of a transparent preborrow requirement in Naked Short Selling. And we restate and explain a point: Hopefully, the SEC will improve the uptick rule. The uptick rule, which was removed in 2007 after 70 years, allowed short sales only if the preceding sale boosted a company's stock price by at least a penny. The uptick rule was designed to make sure short sellers couldn't dominate trading in a stock to drive its price lower.
This Depression will worsen unless; 1) A Very strong pre-borrow requirement on above mentioned naked shorting is enacted fast, 2) Uptick Rule is made more stringent, 3) Derivatives trading is banned worldwide especially now with markets controlled by a few top Goldman Sachs billionaires using megaspeed computer trading, and 4) tax evasion bank accounts are banned worldwide.
